New Material

Around two years ago I talked in this exact spot about being inspired to write new tracks. It was one of the most honest song writing processes I've went into; that meant there was no conscious attempts to make this or that part "groovy" or "complex" and that helped me take down one of the hardest music writing blocks I ever had. In a way these times were "axe in the idol" period and I think we came up with some interesting tracks to add and enrich our repertoire with songs like Hypatia, Jeremiad and NDP.

Simplicity and dismissing any enforced idea to the natural flow of song writing was what really marked that period and is paying off with the tracks we are playing now in our live shows.

Good news is I've been lately been having this funny feeling of wanting to write new songs. And I have to say that thus far some of the ideas are ground breaking (For us, of course. We're not rewriting history) and some are building up on our traditional and signature tracks such as Ma'at and Hypatia.

Bad news we haven't actually recorded our tracks from 2009 and I really want to get that done before these songs join their sisters written earlier in the 2005-2006 period and hardly anyone, including us remember them.

I've already got recording device so I guess what I need to get started with is Pro Tools!

For the record here is a list of the original songs we've performed since 2005

1- The Truth That Lies Conceal
2- Ma'at
3- The Odyssey of the Blind
4- Truth be Hold
5- Release Me
6- The Apsis of the Seeker
7- Points of Departure
8- Delusional Escape
9- It's War
10- Chasing Smoke
11- Inhale your demons
12- Kemet
13- Heretic
14- Once Again
15- Hypatia
16- Jeremiad
17- A Theory of Evil
18- NDP

The bold ones are the ones we actually still play so ...... I have reason for concern =/

Recap: Metal Blast Volume One

I was meaning to make this post earlier but I guess the behind the scenes videos showed how much fun we had. As you guys know ENRAGED performed in the first metal blast with Beyond East, Karma and Mascara earlier this month. It was a very pleasant experience that we most certainly are looking forward to repeat again.

Salutations go fore and foremost to our friends and fans as well as the crowd in general. They were in for some good time, they gave us an amazing vibe and we could only respond with the same passion.

I'd also like to thank Metal Blast and all its crew for making this day possible. It's rare to find professionalism and friendliness in one package. You guys are awesome and I hope that you continue with the same attitude and commitment. It surely inspires us and motivates us to keep doing what we do because we know we are not alone in this and that people who have a passion for metal don't lack creativity.

I understand that some people have complained about sound problems and I don't deny they didn't exist (There are always things to improve!) but Metal Blast is most certainly walking firmly towards the right direction. So keep it up guys!

Of course, as some of you know, our friend Alaa Emeraty had to replace Tefa as a session drummer because Tefa was not able to perform for health issues. Alaa put a solid performance in a very short time. Hails Alaa! \m/

Our setlist was a short one due to the circumstances but we're back stronger than before so stay tuned for more original songs and a better performance.

Peace!

AUC Talent Show 2011 Audition

Today we had an audition for the AUC 2011 talent show. It was a lot of fun and the committee has improved immensely and brought decent equipment (well relatively speaking). Everything went smooth and we had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we had time for only one track so we played NDP. The committee's reaction was good and we hope that we compete in the rounds.

We hardly had time so there isn't a new video but I will post something soon!

Metal Blast Vol I

First of all, I realize I've said in the begining of this year that I will be updating this blog frequently but, of course, there was a lot going on in Egypt the past few weeks and there was hardly any energy or time to play music. Even when we wanted to, we couldn't because of the curfew and the security issues and what not. But life is starting to get back to normal or so we hope and we have a gig tomorrow in El Sawy Culturewheel with Beyond East, Karma and Mascara.

I will be taking my camera with me to record everything that happens through the day and I will make a huge update in a few days.

Hope to see you tomorrow!
