Heya!
Before I write about anything I thought of sharing this photo of a car license plate that I took on my way to the studio. Isn't it "Fucking" hilarious?
Anyway, today we had our second recording session of Ma'at. I've recorded the rest of the guitar lines and the melodies. I've heard the previous recording and I felt it was fine but now I am having doubts about what we've recorded today. It seems like it's gonna be a vicious circle of doubt and relief.
One of the reasons I feel restless is that the limited time that we could afford for recording is never satisfying to perfect or to try different things. In a perfect world I'd probably keep trying and perfecting everything until I am 100% satisfied and certain that it's perfect but unfortunately it's not possible. I hope I don't find too many mistakes when we start mixing ... I guess this calls for more training and focus if we are to record an album.
Don't get the impression, though, that we are recording farts. It sounds pretty decent so far! We will probably release it on early March so stay tuned.
Earlier in the studio I've met the good people of the band "The" (By the way, they're playing live in El Sawy Culture Wheel with Instrumental Therapy on February 27th!). They are preparing an awesome set list so check them out.
After the recording session we had a jam which was productive. We're perfecting two new original tracks "Hypatia" & "A Theory of Evil". There is more is on the way. The current challenge is to improve our output and for me to write solos. I've been reliant on Omar, perhaps too much, during his time with us (can you blame me? This guy rules). I am trying to come up with interesting solos. Tough job, so far.
Anyway I thought of posting a video of some of the effects of Amr's pedal board. The clip's sound doesn't give it justice but check it out anyway.
(The line is taken from a friend of mine's composition. The one and only Wael Al Sheikh).
p.s Take a look @ Bishoy's awesome new 6 strings bass!!!!!
